Torrevieja itself is the biggest single hub in the region — a proper town with a marina, a long promenade, and its own famous pink salt lake, surrounded by a ring of distinct residential zones.
Orihuela Costa
South of Torrevieja, Orihuela Costa is where most of the region's golf resorts, marinas and shopping centres cluster, split into a handful of well-known sub-areas.
Pilar de la Horadada
The southernmost municipality in the region, straddling the Alicante/Murcia border — a mix of small marina towns and a genuinely Spanish inland centre.
North of Torrevieja: Guardamar, Rojales and the golf belt
Heading north and slightly inland, this stretch covers Guardamar's dune-backed coastline, the Rojales/Ciudad Quesada golf and retiree communities, and the towns nearer Santa Pola and Alicante airport.
